A performance that mixtures classical Indian dance, flamenco dance/music and Latin American Folk music, to interpret the poem of Argentinian zamba “Alfonsina y el mar”. It searches how to give new voices to these forms and how to play with its different rhythms and emotional expressions.
Alfonsina Storni is one of the most important Latin American poets from the beginning of the XX century. She dedicated to her art in a radical way, in spite of the social conditioning and obstacles of those times. She is a strong inspiration for the piece, communicating her fearless attitude to the unknown, as she chose to write even about committing suicide. Harassed by loneliness and cancer, she abandoned her room, went into the sea and slowly walked away until she drowned.
