Pulso is a project which starts from the vital rhythm of the human being. In February 2016, in collaboration with the cardiologist Lars Rune from the Södersjukhuset Hospital in Stockholm, Sofia Castro started an investigation regarding: What makes the heart beat? The objective was to understand thoroughly the mechanism of this organ. Once reached this, she goes further the mere physiological operation and asks herself what makes her heart, and other peoples heart, beat: What do we find worth living for? The knowledge and collected material from this investigation become the artistic creation.

Sofía Castro uses her own electrocardiogram for the audiovisual images and the sound record of blood flow (as a result of Doppler), inspires the music. The scientific terms related to the heart and its circulatory system, are used in the project allowing them to symbolize different emotional states. Pulso is a project that is constantly evolving just like life and the human being. A pulse that never stops.
